Buzz Fizz

Right now, we all know that Buzz did not create, quite a buzz but was a fizz. Nobody would have even given a damn to this, if it was not creating the privacy havoc!

Why did Buzz fail??

It is just against the laws of nature!

In their book, "Origin of Brands", Ries and Ries, state and argue that, "Convergence is Crap", Divergence is Divine. They go on to give examples and prove the above mentioned statement.The book compares the origin of brands and origin of species and gives recipe to successful brands.

Now compare this with the so called social media!!Twitter is for tweets, Blogger is for Blogs. Picassa is to share pictures. Gmail is to send mails. Gtalk is for chat.

You dont mail all people who are in your network in a networking site.You dont chat with all the people to whom you send mail.

Nowadays you have your blog friends, tweet friends, chat friends, mail friends and orkut/facebook friends.
 
Definitely you dont want to bring all this together. In fact it would be better if they are all kept apart.[and you would want it that way]
 
And when you try to bring any of these together, all you get is a mess like buzz or a wave that dont reach the shores!
 
So even for social media, the origin of species do apply! and even here "Convergence is Crap" "Divergence is Divine"

After reading this post, if you feel, "something is missing in this post" "there is quite something wrong that i cant lay my finger on" voila I(Ries and Ries) have proved my(their) point.
This is what happens to a reader when an author tries to converge a book review and product review.

ஒரே ஒரு ஊரிலே ஒரே ஒரு ராஜா

பாப்பம்பட்டி  கிராமத்தில் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு உசிலம்பட்டி  கிராமத்தின் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பொருளின் ஆசை. ஆனால் பாப்பம்பட்டி கிராமத்து மக்கள் அதை யாருக்கும் தருவதாக இல்லை. உசிலம்பட்டி மக்கள், பாப்பம்பட்டியில் வேவு பாக்க குழுவாக செல்லும் போது ,ஒருவன் அங்கே மாட்டிக்கொள்கிறான். அவனை கொல்ல முற்படுகிறாள் ஒருத்தி. [அந்த ஒருவன் தான் கதாநாயகன். அந்த ஒருத்தி தான் கதாநாயகி]அப்பொழுது பாப்பம்பட்டி குல தெய்வம் அவள் மனதில் தோன்றி அதை தடுத்து விடுகிறது. தெய்வ சங்கல்பம் என்பதால் அவனை அவர்கள் தலைவனிடம்[ஊர் தலைவர் தான் அந்த பெண்ணின் தந்தையும் ஆவார்] அழைத்து செல்கிறாள். ஊர் பஞ்சயாத்து அவளை திட்டுகிறது. அவர்கள் ஊர் பூசாரி அவர் ஆசிர்வதிக்க பட்டவர் என்று குறி சொல்கிறார்.

உசிலம்பட்டிகாரனை பாப்பம்பட்டியின் பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் எல்லாம் சொல்லி தரும் பொறுப்பை [வேறு யாரிடம்] தான் பெண்ணிடம் கொடுக்கிறார் தலைவர்.
அப்படி அவன் கற்றுக் கொண்டு அந்த ஊர் காளையை அடக்கும் போது அந்த பெண்ணிற்கு வழக்கம் போல காதல் வருகிறது.
உசிலம்பட்டிகாரனுக்கும் உசிலம்பட்டு மக்கள் ஆசைபடுவது தப்பு. பாப்பம்பட்டு மக்கள் தான் நல்லவர்கள் என்று உணர்கிறான்.

இந்த சமயத்தில் இவன் வேவு பாக்க வந்தவன் என்ற உண்மை வெளிபடுகிறது.

சமாதானம் செய்ய முயன்று பேச்சு வார்த்தை தோல்வி அடைந்து உசிலம்பட்டிக்கும் பாப்பம்பட்டிக்கும் பயங்கர சண்டை வருகிறது.  உசிலம்பட்டிகாரன் பாப்பம்பட்டி மக்களுடன் சேர்ந்து சண்டை இடுகிறான். [வழக்கம் போல அவன் நண்பர்களும் அவனோடு]

இதில் பாப்பம்பட்டி தலைவர் கதாநாயகனின்  நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும் செத்து மடிகிறார்கள். பாப்பம்பட்டி உசிலம்பட்டியிடம் தோற்று விடும் போல் இருக்கும் சமயத்தில் பாப்பம்பட்டி குல தெய்வத்திடம் கதாநாயகன் வேண்டுகிறான் . கடைசியில் தெய்வம் உதவ , கதாநாயகனும் வில்லனும் சண்டை போட,வில்லனை கொன்றும் கதாநாயகன் உயிருக்கு போராட கதாநாயகி காப்பாற்றுகிறாள்.

இது அவதார் படத்தின் கதை என்றோ. பாப்பம்பட்டி தான் நாவி என்றோ. உசிலம்பட்டி தான் பூமி என்றோ உங்களுக்குத் தோன்றினால் அதற்கு நான் பொறுப்பல்ல.

இந்த படத்திற்கு ஆஸ்கார் கிடைக்க வில்லை என்று ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் செய்பவர்களுக்கு, "போங்கப்பு புள்ளைங்களை படிக்க வைங்க"

Death of the Big Flix[In Chennai]

Big Flix - Cousin Brother of Netflix in India. Their rental arm had shops at major places in Chennai. They for sure had one of the largest collections(almost) across all languages in all genres. The quality of the DVD's were good.The service from staff was excellent. The staff were terrific sales guys in all aspects.You could take any number of movies during your subscription period. No late fees. You could queue up your movies. Book movies in advance. Check out videos at any shop, check in videos at any shop.Free home delivery. Availability of movies, as soon as original DVD's were available.

I don't think a customer could ask any more than this for the price being paid.

The only thing i felt not favorable to customer was, you cannot opt to stop in middle of your subscription period and get your due money back. [Say you paid for six months subscription and after three months you want to close it. you can't]. Rather, you could pause your subscription period just by the phone call and can continue it later.

Inspite of the best service and great features,they have closed shop in chennai.Yes all shops are winding down their operations.[I am not sure about the status in other cities and was not able to google any news] From now on only online queueing and home delivery will be available. The worst thing is they did not bother to offer an option to bail out for customers with a refund for those who wanted to stop the subscription.

Does this means the video rentals is not viable or feasible? Is it a business meant for doom? Is it because the profit margins were not good enough for Reliance?Was it the business model of unlimited videos rather than the pay per video model that is usually practiced in all other video rental shops? Is it because of piracy? Is it because of Internet?Is it because of "ATTITUDE" of our people?

For sure there are rental video shops still operating in chennai. English movies are far more easily available on Internet via torrents. The Internet speed too is too high in US. Still NetFlix survives in US. I would also very strongly say it is not the ATTITUDE of our people. Even our people, who have used the service of BigFlix once will stay loyal to it and even recommend to others,inspite of easy access to pirated versions.

Probably, one reason was their collection of videos in regional language, Tamil did not meet the expectations of people. Moserbaer had(has) rights and many movies available on moser baer were not available for rental.

Above all, most importantly, I would attribute to their downfall is "Failure of Marketing" and nothing else.

ஜக்குபாய்-விண்ணைத் தாண்டி வருவாயா!

நான் பிரஞ்சு படங்களை பார்த்ததில்லை.ஆனால் ஜக்குபாய் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்.ஆனால் பிரஞ்சு படங்கள் இப்படி இருக்கும் என சத்தியமாய் தோன்றவில்லை. நல்ல வேலை மஹா அவதார் பாபா புண்ணியத்தில் ரஜினி இதில் நடிக்கவில்லை. ஸ்ரேயாவிற்கு அம்மா ஸ்தானத்தில் நடிக்கும் அளவுக்கு கிரணுக்கு வயசுக்கு ஆகி விட்டதா என்ன? அல்ல எனக்கு வயசுக்கு விட்டதா?ஸ்ரேயாவும் அவரின் டப்பிங்கும் சகிக்கவில்லை.கவுண்டமணி இன்னமும் ஹீரோவுடன் படம் முழுக்க வருகிறார். சண்டை எல்லாம் கூட போடுகிறார். ஆனால் காமெடி தான் காணமல் போய் விட்டது.We expect more from you yaa!!

விண்ணைத் தாண்டி வருவாயா!

இன்னமும் படத்தின் தாக்கத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வரவில்லை. கௌதம் மேனனின் சிறந்த படம் அல்ல ஆனாலும் எனக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த படம்.சிம்பு இந்த படத்தில் நடித்திருக்கிறார் என்று சொல்ல முடியாத அளவு மிக இயல்பாய் செய்து உள்ளார். எங்கே சிம்பு ரசிகன் ஆகி விடுவேனோ என்று பயமாய் இருக்கிறது. பாடல்கள் படமாக்கபட்ட விதத்தில் ஆறு வித்தியாசம் கூட தெரிவதில்லை. Mute செய்து பார்த்தால் எந்த பாடல் என்று சொல்வது மிக கடினம்.கதை,திரைக்கதை,கதாநாயகியின் கதாபாத்திரம் ஏன் வசனம் கூட உண்மைக்கு மிக அருகில் உள்ளது!

இரு பிரார்த்தனைகள்

ஒரு நாளின் 12% (தோரயமாக) நேரத்தை 60 KM பேருந்தில் பயணம் செய்து விரயம் செய்பவன்.

அதை உபயோகமாக கழிக்க இரு வழிகள்.
ஒன்று புத்தகம் படிக்கலாம்.
சாதாரணமாகவே பேருந்தில் படித்தால் "Varying focal length more strain to eyes". நான் பயணம் செய்யும் சாலையின் மேடு பள்ளங்களுக்கு சொல்லவே வேண்டாம். மேலும் மீதி 80 % நேரத்தை இது போல் கணினியைப் பார்த்து கண்களை கெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவன்.இன்னும் கண்ணாடி போடாமல் இருப்பதற்கு காரணம் அவ்வப்போது கண்ணை குளிர்ச்சி படுத்துவதானால் தான். படுக்க போகுமுன் வெள்ளரி வைத்து தூங்கி. நீங்கள் வேறு ஏதாவது நினைத்திருந்தால் Surf Excel உபயோகிக்கவும்.
இந்த ஞான அறிவு எல்லாம் கிடைத்ததே இரண்டாவது வழியை பின்பற்றிய போது தான்!அதாவது தூங்க முற்பட்ட போது.
அந்த பரவச பேரானந்த பெருநிலையை அடைய எத்தனை சோதனைகள்!
எங்கும் எப்போதும் எப்படியும் படுத்து உறங்குவது என்பது புலிகள் போல கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக என்னில் அருகி வந்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் குணம்.
இதை சற்றும் புரிந்துக் கொள்ளாமல் பாடுகிறேன் என்ற பெயரில் பிதற்றிக் கொண்டிருப்பவன் ஒரு பக்கம்.[ஒரு நாள் இறங்கும் போது சில்லறைக் காசு போட்டால்  இவன் சரி ஆகி விடுவான்] MBA வையும் Matrimonial  சமாசாரத்தையும் ஒரே மூச்சில் அலசும் பெண்கள். இவர்களை நிச்சயமாக பொறுத்துக் கொள்ளலாம் [வேண்டும்] ஏனெனில் மேற்கூறிய. அரிய அறிவுச் செய்தி எல்லாம் சொன்னவர்கள் இவர்களே!
ஆனால் இந்த அலைபேசியில் அலப்பறை விடுபவர்களிடமிருந்து  எனக்கு பரம பிதா என்று மோட்சம் வாங்கித் தருவார் என்று யாராவது Nostradamas யை கேட்டு சொல்லுங்கள்.
மேனேஜரிடம் திட்டு வாங்குவது என்ன! அவரை திட்டுவது என்ன?
Trouble shoot செய்வது என்ன? Onsite சப்போர்ட் கொடுப்பது என்ன?
அப்பா கிளம்பிட்டேன், வந்து பிக் பண்ணிக்கோ என்று சொல்லி விட்டு, என்னடா பண்றே, பிஸியா இருக்கியா என்று அடுத்த நிமிடம் கடலையை தொடர்வது என்ன?

இவர்களை திருத்த முடியாது. திருந்தவும் கூடாது என்று எம்பெருமானை வேண்டிக் கொண்டு செல்போன் கம்பெனிகளின் பங்குகளை வாங்கி போடுவோம்.
இப்படி எல்லாம் நான் எழுதக் கூடாது என்று நீங்கள் நினைத்தால் நான் நினைக்கும் போது எல்லாம் நித்திரா தேவி என்னை அணைக்க வேண்டும் என்று உங்கள் இஷ்ட தெய்வத்தை பிரார்த்தனை செய்யுங்கள்!

For all those, who don't have time ,who cannot comprehend the above link, who want it simple short and sweet, read below:

Appraisal Time, Low Ratings.  
Hike Time, Very Very Low.
No room for growth. No chance for onsites.
So two team mates, Veeru and Jai decide to team up and pursue outside opportunities.
Both attend same company interview.
No No,No silly situations like, we have only one position and we could take only one of you.
That company is in the hiring spree. It hires both of them and gives them the same hike.
Now they come back, high five each other, submit their resignation letters on a friday evening, auto scheduling it for 11.50 P.M with exactly same wordings.
Sunday, they catch up with each other and swear to each other they should stand by their decisions.
Monday, the manager tosses a coin and says,
Heads, Veeru comes to discussion room first,
Tails, Jai comes to discussion room first
Fortunately, this time Veeru wins, goes to discussion room first,
"I have one long term opportunity. If you refuse, I shall offer the same to Jai."
Now the dilemma of Veeru is called Prisoner's Dilemma!

ஹாசினி பேசும்படம் விமர்சனம் பற்றிய விமர்சனம்

பொதுவாக டிவி நிகழ்ச்சிகளும் சரி, டிவியும் சரி அதிகம் பார்த்ததில்லை, பார்ப்பதுமில்லை, பார்க்க வாய்ப்பும் கிடைப்பதில்லை. Twitter-ல் LazyGeek  ஹாசினி பேசும்படத்தின்  ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவனின் விமர்சன லிங்க்  கொடுத்திருந்தார். ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன் என்பதால் ஆவலுடன் முழுதும் பார்த்தேன்.

இல்லை, நிச்சயமாய் நான் படத்தை விமர்சனம் செய்ய போவது இல்லை.
போதும் போதும் என்று சொல்லுமளவு இணையத்தில் நம் மக்கள் இதை ஆராய்ந்து   விட்டனர்.ஏன்  என்று யோசித்தால் "பழுத்த மரம் தான் கல்லடி படும்" என்ற பழமொழி தான் நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது. [கொழுத்த நாயும் கல்லடி படும் என்பதும் எனக்குத் தெரியும்] ஆனால் இப்படி எல்லாம் படம் எடுக்கத் துணிந்த தயாரிப்பாளரின் தைரியத்திற்கு தலை வணங்குகிறேன்.

விகடனில் செல்வராகவன் எழுதிய "கனா காணும் காலங்கள்" படித்த காலத்திலிருந்தே  அவர் மேல் ஒரு அளவு கடந்த ஆச்சரியம் உண்டு.நிகழ்ச்சியில் அவர் பேட்டியைக் கண்ட பின் சினிமாவின் மீது அவருக்கு இருக்கும் மரியாதை, கற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்ற ஆர்வம், தன்னடக்கம், நல்ல படம் எடுக்க வேண்டும்,படம் பார்ப்பவன் தான் முக்கியம் வேறு யாரும் முக்கியமில்லை என்ற அவரின் சிந்தாந்தம் தான் அவரின் வெற்றிக்கு காரணம் என்று தோன்றியது.[யார் எந்த துறையில் வெற்றி பெறுவதற்கும் இவை தான் அடிப்படைக் காரணம் என்பதும் அடியேன் கருத்து]

சினிமாவின் பல்வேறு பரிமாணங்களை மிக அருகில் பல்வேறு பார்வைகளில் பார்க்கும் வாய்ப்பு இருந்தாலும் அது சுஹாசினிக்கு குறையாக இல்லாமல் நிறையாக இருப்பது நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு நல்ல விஷயம். [அதிக அறிவு ஆபத்தானது]

அட என்ன, வீட்டில் அவரும் மணியும் சினிமாவை பற்றி பேசாமலா இருப்பார்கள். இந்த படத்தில் இது சரியில்லை அது சரியில்லை அப்படி செய்து இருக்கலாம் இப்படி செய்து இருக்கலாம் என்று எல்லாம் வீட்டில் பேசி இருந்து அதன் தாக்கம் நிகழ்ச்சியில் பிரதிபலித்தால்  நிகழ்ச்சி நாசமாய் போய் விடும்.அதையும் தாண்டி சுஹாசினி  அவரின் தனித்துவத்தை தக்க வைத்துக் கொள்வதே ஒரு சவாலான விஷயம்.

பழகிய மனிதர்களைப் பற்றியும் நல்லதோ கேட்டதோ கருத்து சொல்வதும் கடினமான வேலை தான்.

Finely Balanced Insider view என்றால் மிகையாகாது. ஆனால் இந்த மாதிரி நிகழ்ச்சியின் நடுவே அவர் உபயோக படுத்தும் Hi -Fi ஆங்கில வார்த்தைகள் அவரை நம்மிடமிருந்து அன்னியபடுத்தி விடுகிறது!
