Rules of negotiation

  1. You have something interesting to be offered to the other party
  2. The other party may be genuinely interested in accepting your offer
  3. Both will agree to a fair loss for the gain.
Even if one of the rules could not be met, there is no point of negotiation.

If, with out following all the three rules, some one calls the conversation, a negotiation then

One or both the parties don't know what negotiation mean.
[OR]
It is possible, one of them is takin the other for a ride

Yes and No, zeno. Yes, your axioms are true. But a negotiation is also abour price and here is where the problem comes. Both sides have a vastly differing idea of what is fair. So let me add a fourth axiom - There must be no more than a reasonable gap between the two perceptions of a fair value.
